reboot

I would like to go to Reboot one day, and this presentation from Matt Webb is a powerful incentive. Without spoiling it, here are a few quotes he will use in the first minutes, as he collects definitions of design and wonders what the definition of culture is:
"Design is the conscious and intuitive effort to impost meaningful order" (Victor Papanek).
"Some people (they are wrong) are about solving problems. Obviously designers do solve problems, but then so do dentists. Design is about cultural invention." (Jack Schulze, his business partner)
"But problem solving alone isn't sufficient to be called design. [...] Culture is another sneaky word. What is culture?" (Matt Webb)
"Culture is the things that make life interesting." (Bruno Munari)
"The designer of today reestablishes the long lost contact between art and the public." (Bruno Munari
I hope this little taste of will make you curious enough to find out what a one mile tomato is, or a macroscope, and why we should be aware of them.
